Want to help your community while enjoying great food and music? The Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund is pleased to present the third annual “Home Sweet Home” dessert tasting and competition on Saturday night, October 16th, 2010 at the Cambridge Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Presidential Ballroom. This spectacular and delicious evening will open many doors for the homeless by bringing together the area’s greatest dessert chefs and restaurants, reflecting the very best eateries of Boston, Cambridge and surrounding areas. There will also be dancing to the Love Dogs, raffles and silent and live auctions. "Last year's Home Sweet Home event was so successful that many more award-winning restaurants have signed on for our third year," said David Pap, CHAF Board Chair. “Our goal is to raise $150,000 to help 80 ‘at risk’ families and individuals to avoid or escape from homelessness.”
Billy Costa (NECN’s TV Diner) will host this fabulous culinary event and will be joined by Celebrity Judges Jill Epstein (Publisher of Where to Eat Boston), Ilene Bezahler (Publisher/ Editor of Edible Boston) and Lynne Viera (President & CEO, How2Heros Inc). Host Chef Robert Daugherty of Zephyr on the Charles at the Cambridge Hyatt Regency will be joining many other dessert, pastry and ice cream chefs to present a delectable evening of fantastic desserts.
 Wine enthusiasts will be able to purchase separate Passports to the VIP Room, where they can dine on a dinner buffet and sample dessert wines. Guests will vote on the best desserts of the evening to determine the recipients of the CHAF “Yummy Awards!” with the Celebrity Judges selecting the best overall dessert.
A sampling of this year’s restaurants includes Finale Desserterie, Harvest Restaurant, Sweet Bakery and Dessert Bar, Christina’s Ice Cream, City Tables at the Lenox Hotel, Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, Verrill Farm, The Fireplace, Toscanini’s Ice Cream, Kickass Cupcakes, Middle East Restaurant, and Zephyr on the Charles, with many more expected to join in the fun! And, you will sample wine tastings from Westport River Vineyard and Winery and Still River Winery.
Tickets, priced at $50 for the Presidents Ballroom and $75 for a VIP Passport, will be available online after Labor Day at www.CHAFund.org. There will be a 20% discount for President’s Pass tickets ordered online before September 30th.
